What makes Recovery so good is that it's so unlike an Eminem album but also so much like the old Eminem at the same time. At first glance, the featured artists and producers may make you balk (as well they should), but don't let it deter you. As silly as it sounds, this is absolutely the most mainstream sounding album that Eminem has ever released. The beats will make a large chunk of the tracks on this album radio hits easily. That's not a bad thing, though, as Em's verses hold down the beats and add his punch and attitude to them. It's an odd combo, but it works remarkably well. The fact that it sounds so much like a Pop/Rap crossover album is actually pretty ironic considering his past.
